Dr. P. Malliga obtained Ph.D on Synthesis, growth and characterisation of amino acid NLO single crystals in Materials Science, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai in 2014. She joined in Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology (Deemed to be University) on 1st, August, 2006, where she is currently working as Associate Professor.

She has received best paper award three times. She is the recipient of the Indo Asian Excellence Award from Ratna Prasad Multidisciplinary Research and Educational Society. She was awarded for High impact factor journal publication from Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. She was invited to deliver invited talk in SMTBEA-2022, an International Conference conducted by SSN Institution, Chennai. She has also organised 2 Faculty Development Programs, hands -on training programs and attended several FDP, Seminars, workshops.

She is actively involved in several social activities by conducting awareness programs for women and children and Covid awareness camp at KUMIZHI village adopted by Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology. She has also signed a MoU with Kamaraj College, Tuticorin to provide outreach and training activities for rural people.
- She is also actively involved in research and has many international publications to her credit. Under her guidance, 3 research scholars have enrolled and pursuing research in Synthesis, growth and characterisation of NLO single crystals.
- She has attended GIAN course in “Latest Methods in Protein Crystallization and Structural Biology” and courses conducted by ELSEVIER and WILEY.
- She has also completed certification courses on Outcome Based Education and Academic Quality Assurance, Online Teaching, Learning, and Evaluation with MOODLE & MOOC Platform conducted by ATAL.
- Her areas of interest include synthesis, growtH, and characterisation of Non Linear Optical single crystals.
